Burt's Bees Beeswax Honey Lip Balm Review

I got this lip balm in a pack with the original and pomegranate flavors a while back. I didn’t open it till a few weeks after going through my pomegranate and original flavors. I was excited. I was ready to try honey flavor. GOD WAS I WRONG.

1. Price: $$
This was $3.00 for a 0.15 oz tube, but since i didn’t technically pay for this one (i got it as a gift) the fact that i didn’t like it made it less painful to “put away."

2. Appearance:It’s a yellow tube like the other Burt’s Bees lip balms, but it has a darker, brown/orangey cap to differentiate it.

3. Feel
GLIDE - Okay, so maybe it was the way i percieved this lip balm, but it was just way too chalky. Perhaps they remade the formula since i got mine (the label on the top is different than the one on my tube, it looks like this:
Anyways, the glide is smooth, but very thick. Imagine spreading ‘spreadable butter’ on your lips. That’s how this one felt when i put it on. I didn’t like it one bit.
SMELL - Ok, so i never thought i’d ever HATE a lip balm, but I definitely HATE this lip balm. The SMELL is NOT honey at all, in fact it’s not even sweet. It smells like baby powder. EXACTLY LIKE BABY POWDER. I was so uncomfortable with this smell that i couldn’t wear the balm it self for more than thirty minutes tops.
TASTE - Uh, no, i refuse to.
SHINE -No shine. It’s very matte.
LASTING TIME - I can’t tell you the lasting time for this one. I honestly hated the smell of it so much that i had to put my review thoughts aside and wipe the crap off my lips and put something else on. If it DID last on my lips, i would say maybe 3-4 hours like the other Burt’s Bees flavors.

4. Manliness: 4/5Because it’s not very shiny, and it IS a Burt’s Bees, it’s relatively normal to see a guy holding this.

CONCLUSION: ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ 1/5 stars. 1 star is a very rare rating for me. I’d say i wouldn’t give any lip balm this rating unless it REALLY DISAPPOINTED me. This one did just that. I can’t say i recommend this flavor at all—unless you’re nose isn’t working very well, then go right ahead and buy it.

I did however figure out another use for this stuff: I use it a spot stick for lotion. If I need to moisturize something on the go I can just apply it on my ashy elbows or maybe a rough spot on my arm. Because it’s further from my nose at that point I hardly notice the smell, but still, I wish I didn’t have to feel obligated to use it :( 

Crazy Rumors Vegan Lemonade Lip Balm Review

So I was at my local Whole Foods Store one day and stumbled upon this crazy little thing. I remember reading about this vegan lip balm somewhere and doubted it would be any good, but this really surprised me! I bought it and use it just as frequently as my other favorite lip balms. Like my background for this one? It’s that stupid “Duck Walks up to a Lemonade Stand" video hahahaha.

1. Price: $$
This was $4.00 for a 0.15 oz tube. Err…wut. I questioned why I I had to pay this much for a small tube when i could really grab a stick of burts bees for a whole dollar less. But $4.00 for absolutely VEGAN animal-cruelty-free lip balm sounds ok. The vegan part convinced me it was worth the extra dollar.

2. Appearance:It looks just like any other normal lip balm, but the thing i most enjoyed was the Hipstery, small-town boutique specialty shop feel that i got with the label. It’s really vintage and retro looking, something kinda niche to the bougie culture of hipsters, but hey, that’s cool. The tube is also a little translucent, not completely see through—which is classy. The balm itself is colored like lemonade. Yellowish.

3. Feel
GLIDE - I complain about lip balms that are TOO oily. This is a little bit oily. I understand it’s like olive oil and shea butter, but it’s too slick. The feeling on my lips feels like i kissed the opening of an olive oil bottle and wearing it feels fine, but putting it on, it’s a bit too slick…like i could feel some excess on the tips of my mouth and such each time I put it on.
SMELL - This is possibly the best part of the lip balm itself. The smell is so amazing i cannot even compare. It’s like someone literally opened a lemon right under your nose. It smells just like lemon—literally from the fruit. It’s such a nice fragrant smell as well! I couldn’t believe it at first—but the smell never wore off for me. It stays on most of the wear time.
TASTE - No taste.
SHINE -Too oily and a little too shiny for a guy. It’s a nice sheen for a woman, but the shininess is noticeable. It’s not subtle from a distance so if you’re a dude and you want to buy this stuff—don’t use too much of it or it’ll look like you’re wearing a little lip gloss.
LASTING TIME - Hmm…lasting time is about 3ish hours or so. I found that because it was kinda oily, my lips absorbed it pretty quickly. I had to reapply it a few times throughout the day, but i didn’t mind that. It was a nice experience to wear since it smelled so nice.

4. Manliness: 1.5/5This one isn’t a great choice for guys since it is in fact very shiny, but that’s fine. If you wear it sparingly and don’t slather it on like normal lip balm, then this would work, no problem.

CONCLUSION: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ 3.5/5 stars. This one does everything you need it to do for you including smell nice. I have to say, i really approve. I thought this would be a boring lip balm with not much to it, but it has surprised me a lot. I like this one. It’s good. I’d highly recommend it to any girls looking for a fun, classy, lip balm. Guys, go ahead and use it—but maybe the other flavors won’t be as shiny?

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, Lemon Chamomile SPF 25 Review

I’ve always been a fan of Burt’s Bees and Kiehl’s lip balms because they feel really nice, but  when i read about this AWARD WINNING lip balm i had my doubts. What could be THAT awesome? It’s just lip balm, right? Uh, wrong. SO WRONG. This is possibly one of the BEST lip balms i’ve ever tried in my life. And i’ve tried a ton of lip balm.

1. Price: $$$
At about $7.50 for a 0.25 oz tube, I was like…are you kidding me?! The tube was really small too so i didn’t like the fact that I was paying so much for it. Well…i bought two when i went to Sephora that day so my wallet really hated me. But looking back on it…i used it for about 3 months on and off and it still hasn’t run out…there’s a lot more in here than i thought! 

2. Appearance:
It’s a cool little squeeze tube, not the stick kind that everyone is used to. The applicator tup that is under the black cap looks and feels like a bullet for lipstick tube. It’s slanted actually and made of plastic so it’s very easy to apply. I feel extra bougie when I’m looking at the label—how classy does that thing look?

3. Feel
GLIDE - Compared to the wax and olive oil and paraffin-based lip balms this one is very different. It does have beeswax and cocoa butter in it, but the first ingredient listed is Avocado Oil. Hmm. Odd. I really like it though. It’s got like a jelly-like consistency, but it’s not oily or goopy. It’s thick enough that it’s easy to spread on.
SMELL - Lemon and Chamomile. Imagine tea. Like lemon tea, but it just smells like lip SEX. It’s such a pleasant scent and it’s light enough that it’s not over-powering at all.
TASTE - It’s not terribly tasty, but let’s face it, this shit’s not candy.
SHINE -Not very shiny at all, but there is a little teensy layer of sheen. Smack your lips together a bit and it should be gone.
LASTING TIME - i’d give this one 4+ hours. I don’t usually go for very long periods of time without eating but when I wore this balm, I found that sitting and studying for a long while…my lips were still very…balmy. Of course, the smell had faded since i put it on, but i’m pretty sure i could have gone the whole day without reapplying.

4. Manliness: 5/5I’m sorry, but this has got to be one of the best formulated, best built and best looking lip balms on the market for guys. Girls have it so easy with their plethora of lip products. Well, Jack Black is here to save the day! AND it’s in a blue tube. Can’t get manlier than that.

CONCLUSION: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5/5 stars because this stuff ain’t completely organic so i don’t have to wate for that natural shit to kick into action. It makes your lips baby-ass soft in under 2 hours and it’s a pretty unique scent. Where can you find this stuff but in a high-end product line, right? Better be worth it for $7.50

Burt's Bees Original Beeswax Lip Balm Review

Okay so this is like…my standard lip balm. It was the first “fancy" lip balm that I ever had and I was really skeptical at first. Then i realized it was peppermint and i fell in love with it so this review might be a little biased. I’ve been through maybe 10 tubes of this stuff (and I have a crap ton of other lip balms to choose from too…)

1. Price: $$
At about $3 a tube, this stuff is pretty affordable, just as long as you don’t lose it or misplace it too often and since it’s not $1.00 it gives off the illusion that it’s not cruddy lip balm, so people will think twice about losing it!

2. Appearance:
Basic yellow tube, standard size, the same as a Chapstick tube.

3. Feel:
GLIDE - Smooth. It’s not overly oily because it’s made of beeswax, but especially when it’s been in your pocket and it’s a little warm, it slides like butter. It’s a gooood feeling!
SMELL - Peppermint. It smells like peppermint, but not like the candy kind. It’s not over powering either. It’s aromatic enough that it’s a nice little hint whenever someone is nearby.
TASTE - I don’t really remember if this stuff has a taste. But it’s waxy…so it doesn’t feel nice when it gets on your tongue.
SHINE -Minimally shiny! Perfect for those that don’t want a glossy sheen 
LASTING TIME - about 3-4 hours if you don’t mess with it. But, since most people like the feeling of the menthol with the peppermint, they reapply it within the hour to get the tingly feeling on their lips.

4. Manliness: 4.5/5I give this a full on 4.5/5 because it hits all the right notes without being gimmicky or too girly! For me, I think it is perfectly normal to see a guy putting on Burt’s Bees. It’s acceptable. But it makes them bougie-er than the Chapstick using fellow haha.

CONCLUSION: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ 4/5 stars because it is a great lip balm, but in my personal opinion, it doesn’t work as FAST as i want it too (but that’s because I’m impatient). It does however sooth chapped lips, so if that’s what you need with no gimmick or shine, this is the one for you.

2. Appearance: This is to describe the way it looks. My standard tube size is equivalent to a stick of Chapstick or Burt’s Bees.

3. Feel: ?/10
This includes GLIDE, SMELL, TASTE (if there is one), SHINE and LASTING TIME. 

4. Manliness Rating: ?/5
How comfortable would most guys be with applying this in public, wearing it throughout the day (is it shiny and glossy? or matte and discreet?) and buying this over other lip balms. 1 is more for girls or feminine types, 5 is for the manliest men!
